MRCI Client Directed Services is looking for dependable people that enjoy working with others, can problem solve using sound common sense, and have a sense of humor. The Assistant Controller is a full-time position with day time hours. This position will allow you to give back to the community while having flexibility, full-time benefits, training, and advancement opportunities!


Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.


Job Summary:

The Assistant Controller works under the guidance of and assists the CFO with the financial duties of Client Directed Services (CDS). The focus is to ensure that the financial integrity of CDS accounting functions meet standard accounting principles as well as state and federal regulations.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage operational data for CDS department including accounts payable and receivable.
  • Evaluate internal system controls and policies to prevent inaccuracies in accounting statements, review financial data, and provide suggestions for improvement and correction.
  • Oversee in the preparation of monthly financial metrics and initiative reports. Assist in the preparation of the annual budget process.
  • Oversee accounting efficiency initiatives.
  • Oversee Accounting Clerks/Timesheet processes.
  • Manage routine accounting activities to assist in the financial overview of the budget.
  • Oversee training/development of CDS accounting staff for cross-training functions.
  • Manage system software applications.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities: interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 2-5 years of experience in the Accounting field; or an Associate's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field and 5-7 years of experience.
  • Experience leading process improvement/efficiency strategies.
  • Demonstrated efficiency maximizing, critical thinking, problem solving skills and abilities.
  • Experience leading, developing and growing a team.
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Exhibit strong computer skills and knowledge of relevant technology.
  • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of financial software programs.
  • Understand tax laws, both state and federal, as they apply to a non-profit agency.
  • Display vast knowledge of math and accounting skills.
  • Possess strong leadership, supervisory and management abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills along with exceptional verbal and written communication.
  • Strong knowledge of accepted practices and financial accounting standards.
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
  • Clear a MN Department of Human Services background check.
