CDS Human Resources Coordinator

Job Summary:

The CDS Human Resources Coordinator provides assistance with and facilitates the human resource process in the Client Directed Services program.  This position resolves CDS employment related problems and ensures compliance in accordance with federal, state regulations and CDS programs rules. Further, this individual acts as a liaison and provides HR support between the Client Representatives and the individuals who have been chosen to provide direct service.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of CDS employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with Human Resources team and legal counsel as needed. 
  • Assists with resolving complex employee relations issues. Conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  • Establishes and maintains electronic applications for CDS Employees.
  • Participates in benefits compliance for the CDS program by educating employees, processing benefit paperwork, distributing required documentation, and answering questions for employees.
  • Analyzes trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs and policies.
  • Networks with local and national HR Representatives on CDS programs and compliance with employment law and HR best practices.
  • Provides knowledge and guidance on hiring CDS Employees, Vendors, and Independent Contractors for all CDS programs.
  • Manages CDS workers' compensation program and unemployment claims and participates in actions and decisions as appropriate, to ensure that all statues and policies are followed for the CDS Department.
  • Provides guidance to CDS Leadership on employee relation issues.
  • Supervises CDS HR staff including providing support on escalations and problems/issues in any of their duties.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field and two to four years of related experience. Experience working with people with developmental and mental disabilities, their families, and their caretakers is helpful.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the principles and processes for providing customer and personal services: this includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of federal and state laws, regulations and standards surrounding the field of human resources.
  • Has the ability to learn and proficiently use all MRCI/CDS data bases and ADP.
  • Has a working knowledge of the principles and procedures for training, compensation and benefits, labor relations and release of personal information.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures, and all computer-based office software.
  • Possesses oral communication skills to effectively present information over the phone and in person.
  • Possesses strong organizational skills and the ability to perform required record keeping.
  • Clear a MN Department of Human Services background check and physical exam to demonstrate the ability to perform the physical demands of the job.
