Chief Business and Marketing Officer

The Chief Business & Marketing Officer (CBMO) provides overall leadership and financial oversight of three key areas at MRCI: Business Development, Advancement, and Marketing and Communications.  As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, the CBMO is responsible for providing insight as a key contributor to organizational strategic planning, implementation and operational compliance. The CBMO will partner with the Senior Leadership Team to develop strong business relationships, and effective marketing and recognition for MRCI as a leader in the industry.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction for the advancement, business development and marketing/communication teams. Build a management culture based on teamwork, open communication, data-based decision-making, innovation, and accountability.
  • Facilitate development of short and long range strategic plans concerning business development opportunities involving employment, production, or alliances. Closely coordinate with fund development plans, employment placement plans, and production goals.
    • Establish performance measures, monitor results, and coordinate with COO, VP of Production and VP of Client Directed Services to evaluate business development program effectiveness
    • Connect at an executive level with local business chambers and professional organizations and oversee the development of opportunities to advance MRCI in key stakeholder circles
  • Support business development, advancement, programming, and overall organizational goals through effective, consistent, professional communication and marketing.
    • Inventory current marketing and communications strategies and materials; oversee the establishment and consistent implementation of brand standards
    • Direct the planning, development and execution of marketing and advertising initiatives
    • Ensure MRCI's message is distributed across channels and to targeted audiences
    • Establish performance measures, monitor results, and coordinate with the Leadership Team to evaluate effectiveness of marketing and communication initiatives
  • Ensure business development plan is carried out in keeping with the organization's values, mission, vision, and goals.
    • Oversee implementation of business development plan and support team to achieve organization's financial needs
    • Evaluate the effect of internal and external forces on organization and current fund development
    • Keep informed of developments in business plan; recommend policy positions concerning business development plan
    • Establish performance measures, monitor results and help CEO and board evaluate the effectiveness of the organization's business plan
  • Provide financial oversight and oversee budgeting, analysis, forecasting, and business planning for the advancement, business development and communication teams.


Minimum Qualifications


Education/Experience

  • A Bachelor's degree required.  Master's degree in business, marketing, or related field preferred.  A minimum of 15 years of experience and demonstrated track record of accomplishments in business development, marketing and/or communications.

 
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Well-developed leadership skills and the ability to build and enhance teams for performance excellence.
  • Strong creative, strategic, analytical, financial, organizational and personal sales skills.
  • Strong presentation and writing skills in order to speak to a wide range of target audiences. 
  • Deep understanding of technology, innovation and philanthropy markets.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively to develop relationships with customers and referral sources in order to enhance MRCI's visibility and market share.
  • Working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and leadership skills.  Strong ability to communicate ideas effectively, problem solve, demonstrate organizational skills, multi-task and have proficiency in computer based office software.
  • Maintain a valid Driver's License with reliable transportation as regional travel is required.
