Community Relations Manager

Job Summary:

The Community Relations Manager is responsible for the overall development of strategic and compelling marketing materials that support all product and service programs and will persuasively communicate MRCI's mission and programs to potential funders. The Community Relations Manager is responsible for developing and writing grant proposals from diverse sources, both private and public, that provide financial support for MRCI's programs. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Directs and oversees the development of a comprehensive marketing and community relations program across all product and service programs.
  • Supervises and approves the design, content, and production of all internal and external publications with a marketing and public relations impact, including brochures, newsletters, posters, administrative job announcements, and flyers.
  • Coordinates and supervises all media relations to ensure accurate and timely coverage of events and news, utilizing newspapers, radio and television. Serves as lead media spokesperson; represents and acts on the behalf of the CEO/CBMO to the media when appropriate.
  • Conducts activities related to establishing and managing annual giving campaigns, event planning, and fundraising activities.
  • Conducts full range activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to foundation and corporate sources.
  • Works with finance to gather information necessary to report to corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs.
  • Performs research on foundations and corporations to evaluate prospects for corporate and foundation grants.
  • Cultivates, supports, and maintains relationships with MRCI volunteer councils to develop, elevate and support resource development programs.
  • Schedules outreach presentations in the community and communicates with staff regarding coverage and responsibilities.
  • Attends relevant community meetings; participates in relevant councils and committees.
  • Develops and maintains the Community Relations Department budget and staff.
  • Secures confidential information to protect staff, clients and proprietary knowledge.
  • Builds strong working relationships, internally and externally. Understands institutional history and programs.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Communication, Marketing or Public Relations, or related field. 
  • Three years relevant grant writing experience and proven track record in securing new funding opportunities. 
  • Professional, self-directed, and highly motivated.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Programs and social media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to craft funding proposals in clear and compelling manner. 
  • Experience cultivating and developing positive relations with individuals, organizations and businesses. 
  • Good interpersonal skills, team-oriented, and customer service focused.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a background check through the Department of Human Services and clear a physical exam that proves you meet the demands of the job.
