Community Relations Specialist

The Adaptive Skills Coordinator is a full-time position with day time hours. This position will allow you to give back to the community while having flexibility, full-time benefits, training, and advancement opportunities!
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Starting pay is $17.54 per hour and may vary depending on experience.
Job Summary:
The Community Relations Specialist is responsible for professional communications to MRCI staff and external contacts. This individual contributes to all phases of the MRCI community relations program and is accountable for projects that range from internal emails and messages to initiatives which build the program and drive awareness and recognition. The Community Relations Specialist successfully writes and prepares content for a variety of channels including web, email, print, video, and presentations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops consistent internal and external corporate brand messaging materials that is reflected across all product and service programs, as well as internal programs. Examples include, but not limited to, internal and external materials such as brochures, newsletters, program brochures, videos websites and fact sheets.
- Assists in the coordination of special events, volunteer councils and other special projects across the organization.
- Manages timely and appropriate donor management through the acknowledgement system.
- Secures confidential information to protect staff, clients and proprietary knowledge.
- Builds strong working relationships, internally and externally. Understands institutional history and programs.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Public Relations, or similar field and one to two years of related experience required.
- Excellent writing, editing and presentation skills.
- Strong understanding of desktop publishing software to include Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Indesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Adobe Premiere.
- Basic knowledge of web design principles and adobe web development programs.
- Must be able to operate desktop computers, photocopiers, scanners and cameras.
- Demonstrate professional customer and personal service.
- Possess strong project management skills and be attentive to detail.
- Exercise independent judgment in prioritizing work tasks
- Must have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Must pass a background check through the Department of Human Services and clear a physical exam that proves you meet the demands of the job.
