Day Service Specialist

Job Summary:

The Day Service Specialist is responsible for the development and implementation of community-based, person-centered day service plans. As a strong communicator, the Day Service Specialist will also ensure regular communication with clients, client teams, funders, employers, co-workers and community members as well as closely tracking all day services activity. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements program curriculum to promote greater community independence and skills of individuals receiving services.
  • Plans and coordinates individualized, community-based activities for program participants.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with community partners. Facilitates problem solving regarding issues, complaints, and progress of community partnerships.
  • Coordinates services and meetings for individuals receiving services and ensures critical information is effectively communicated with appropriate MRCI staff, county personnel, residential staff, and other team members. Completes paperwork and implements protocols as required by all licensing/accreditation regulations and agency policies.
  • Monitors the operation of assigned day support service programming. Works with appropriate management to maintain cost effective programming, transportation options, and overall program operations.
  • Understands and implements a variety of person-centered planning processes and facilitation techniques to determine and support the planning process that best meets the needs of the individuals served.
  • Provides daily direct support to clients; assures protection and promotes the dignity and respect for each individual consistent with individual support plans. Duties may include medication administration, use of adaptive equipment, personal care support, and driving.
  • Serves as an ambassador for MRCI in community functions, presentations and involvement.
  • Develops and maintains relationships including a wide range of audiences with varied interests such as clients, client team members, funding sources, volunteers and community members. 
  • Maintains a professional network that is knowledgeable about multiple interests.
  • Recruits, retains and recognizes a range of volunteers in program delivery.
  • Prioritizes competing relationships to best meet all customer needs.
  • Utilizes technology and processes to ensure timely communication and makes cold calls.
  • Works independently, remotely, and does so while collaborating with a team and meeting personal goals.
  • Transports clients in personal and/or business vehicle.

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • A High School diploma/equivalent or an Associate's degree, plus two years of related work experience OR;
  • A Bachelor's Degree in a field related to service provision, plus a minimum of one year of related work experience working with persons with developmental disabilities or related conditions.
  • Preference for individuals with a proven successful history in group facilitation as well as one-one-training facilitation.
  • Practical understanding of business acumen.  
  • Sales and customer service experience preferred.
  • Be sensitive to the needs of individuals with disabilities.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills both with clients and customers.
  • Excellent problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer based office software.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Must pass a background check through the Department of Human Services and clear a physical exam that proves you meet the demands of the job.

 

Starting pay is $14.42 per hour.
