Job Summary:
As a cross-functional team member, this position involves training, coaching, supporting, discovering and achieving the personal employment goals of numerous individuals with disabilities and/or disadvantages. The Employment Specialist will develop a base of knowledge regarding employment, client and organizational relationships. As a contributing member on the team, this position requires a strong communicator, a flexible team player and a can-do attitude.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Performs employment activities to include, but not limited to, receiving referrals and skill-training through employment assessment, placement and follow-a-long.
- Accurately completes paperwork for individuals on caseload within time standards.
- Develops and maintains relationships including a wide range of audiences with varied interests such as clients, client team members, funding sources, employers and community members.
- Maintains a professional network that is knowledgeable about multiple industries.
- Prioritizes competing relationships to best meet all customer needs.
- Utilizes technology and processes to ensure timely communication.
- Serves as an ambassador for MRCI in community functions, presentations and involvement.
- Works independently and/or remotely and does so while collaborating with a team and meeting personal goals.
- Transports clients in personal and/or business vehicle.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- A High School diploma/equivalent or an Associate's degree, plus two years of related work experience OR;
- A Bachelor's Degree in a field related to service provision, plus a minimum of one year of related work experience working with persons with developmental disabilities or related conditions.
- Preference for individuals with a proven successful history in group facilitation as well as one-one-training facilitation.
- Practical understanding of business acumen.
- Sales or customer service experience preferred.
- Be sensitive to the needs of individuals with disabilities.
- Must possess excellent communication skills both with clients and customers.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Demonstrate proficiency in computer based office software.
- Must have a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
- Must pass a background check through the Department of Human Services and clear a physical exam that proves you meet the demands of the job.
Starting pay is $14.42 per hour
