Job Summary
The Human Resources Generalist manages components of the Human Resources function such as the HRIS system, employee benefit programs and customer service for employees. Responsible for the integrity of employee benefit records, communications, training and educational materials, analytical, and administrative support for the employee benefit programs. The Human Resources Generalist will strive towards maximizing efficiency and improving processes to ensure timely and accurate data and reporting. In addition, the Human Resources Generalist actively contributes to our mission by embracing a culture that focuses on MRCI's Team Promises and supports one another, our clients and strengthens our community participation.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Administers employee benefits programs such as the medical, retirement plan, dental, life insurance, disability programs. Process and audit monthly billings for all group plans.
- Responsible for enrollments, Gravie administration, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, accident and death claims, rollovers, distributions, loans, hardships, and compliance testing.
- Oversee maintenance of employee benefit files and updating of employee payroll records.
- Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of MRCI benefits package.
- Design and distribute materials for benefit orientations, open enrollment, and life change events.
- Provide training and support to employees regarding MRCI benefits.
- Prepare or maintain employment records related to events, such as terminations, leaves, transfer, or promotions, using human resources management system software. Maintain and updates organizational charts.
- Conduct exit interview, analyze information, identify trends and provide summary to leadership. Inform managers of issues that require immediate attention and work to resolve problem.
- Serve as experienced member of HR Team who responds to staff with employment questions. Recommend and implement changes in methods or procedures relating to increasing efficiency of HR function.
- Participate in research and development of HR policies and ensure compliance with all State and Federal legislation.
- Foster a safe and healthy work environment by following all safety practices and procedures.
- Secure confidential information to protect staff, clients and proprietary knowledge.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Experience
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university. Three to five years' experience working in a human resources department. Experience in HRIS and benefits preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Comprehensive knowledge of state and local laws surrounding the field of human resources and compliance with applicable laws.
- Proficient knowledge of benefit programs.
- Demonstrated ability to make good independent judgment and decisions.
- Good team work and collaboration effort.
- Strong problem solving, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
- Excellent customer service, interpersonal, verbal/written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required; proficiency in HR systems such as ADP strongly preferred.
- Clear a MN Department of Human Services background check.
Physical Requirements
Physically able to work in an office environment and operate office equipment. Will need to manage time well and perform multiple assignments at once while maintaining a professional demeanor with clients and customers.
Environment
Required to sit for extended periods of time and view both printed pages and computer screens for several hours each shift.
