Human Resources Specialist

MRCI is currently seeking an energetic Human Resources Specialist to aide with the daily administrative operations of the Human Resources department and the Client Directed Services Department. This individual will provide HR support to Client Directed Services (CDS) program staff, and the CDS employees of MRCI.   

 

Job Duties:

  1. Ensure consistency in hiring process, and complete new hire paperwork for the CDS program.
  2. Maintain accurate and current information in CDS personnel files and assure that files are closed timely.
  3. Serve as a resource and liason to CDS program staff and Client Representatives regarding new hires.
  4. Verify and maintain I-9 documentation with E-verify system.
  5. Ensure that a satisfactory background check is received prior to any new hires starting work. Review unsatisfactory background checks to determine, with guidance from corporate recruiting office, whether applicant is able to start work. Send adverse action letters as required.
  6. Perform customer service functions by answering employee requests and questions.
  7. Data entry of employee information into appropriate software. Processes employee status changs and ensure accurate pay and job information.
  8. Ensure that personnel records are accurate, in compliance with state and federal laws, in compliance with the company's personnel file policy and are up to date.
  9. Assist as needed with internal investigations, including gathering statements and documentation to support employment actions. Act as liaison between MRCI and Client Representatives with investigations that may result in corrective action or that may affect employment status.
  10. Generate, review, analyze and distribute a variety of narrative reports and statistical summaries regarding employee information from ADP and other databases. Assist in development of standard reports for ongoing management needs.  Maintain data integrity in systems by running queries and analyzing data.
  11. Complete CDS survey requests or employment verifications for internal or external HR or payroll sources.
  12. Serve as experienced member of HR Team who responds to CDS employees with employment questions.
  13. Recommend and implement changes in methods or procedures relating to increasing efficiency of HR function.
  14. Participate in research and development of HR policies and ensure compliance with all State and Federal legislation.
  15. Assist with management of employee benefit programs with requirements from the Affordable Care Act for the CDS program by educating employees, processing benefit paperwork, distributing required documentation, and answering questions for employees.
  16. Assist in tracking the training of CDS in-home staff.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with people in potentially stressful situations. 
  2. Strong organizational skills and ability to perform required record keeping. 
  3. Demonstrated excellent customer service skills and good verbal and written communication.
  4. Demonstrated proficiency in computer based office software, including Word, Excel, Power Point,and Outlook.
  5. Demonstrated ability to make good independent judgment and decisions.
  6. Strong analytical skills and ability to identify trends.
  7. Complies with federal and state employment laws.
  8. Hold a valid driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.

Education/Experience:

Associate's Degree or two years of college plus equivalent experience. One to three years experience working in a human resources department. Experience working with people with developmental and mental disabilities and their families is helpful.
