Payroll Specialist

MRCI WorkSource is currently hiring for a Payroll Specialist to support our CDS deparment. This individual's responsibilities will vary as they relate to accounting functions assigned and on special projects required. The person in this position will, in a timely and accurate fashion, assist in maintaining all accounting functions for the Client Directed Services Program.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Responsible for setting up all necessary federal and state accounts and filing all required forms related to individual employers.
2. Responsible for obtaining worker's compensation coverage for individual employers.
3. Accurately and efficiently processes timesheets for CDS Fiscal Employer Agent Clients.
4. Accurate and timely depositing of all state and federal taxes.
5. Accurate and timely filing of all state and federal tax returns.
6. Responsible for all audits relating to the FEA payroll.
7. Responsible for the processing of all payroll garnishments.
8. Responsible for issuing W-2s for individual employers.
9. Serve as backup for the MRCI Payroll Clerk.

Qualifications/Requirements: This individual must be able to operate a personal computer and have extensive experience with Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel. The CDS Payroll Specialist must also be able to proficiently operate a 10 key calculator. The position requires extensive knowledge of federal and state employment related laws and regulations.  This individual must operate with a high degree of accuracy, be detail oriented, and have good customer service and communication skills.

Education:  High School diploma plus 7-10 years of experience in payroll and accounting preferred OR an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university plus 3-5 years of accounting and payroll experience preferred. In addition, must have payroll certification.
