Senior Accountant

MRCI is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for our Quality Products site in Kasota. This individual is responsible for overseeing the functions of accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, and all financial reporting. This individual will be responsible for the utilization of the ERP software in production analysis and reporting.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  1. Responsible for cost accounting, margin reports, and management information in a job cost environment, to include: income, expense and profit reporting by job, customer, product line and product
  2. Prepares all general journal entries for month end closing and posts all journals in Syteline at month end.
  3. Audits and balances, on a daily basis, material transactions, product received and shipped
  4. Prepares monthly summary & detail financial reports (including Dashboards/KPI's, trend analysis reports) for Board Finance Committee and Board of Directors
  5. Assure the accuracy of perpetual inventory and lot control, as well as a periodic physical inventory
  6. Continuously work with production staff to drive process improvements (inventory, financials and accounting)
  7. As a "super user" of the Syteline account/financial module, train users on software and hardware, become knowledgeable of Syteline features and expand use as appropriate 
  8. Oversee all financial/accounting functions of the Month End Inventory process team (including variance reporting, recording of physical count, and direction of recount)

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  1. At least three years of accounting experience including inventory, cost accounting, general ledger, accounts receivable and payable
  2. Experience in leading the implementation, training and use of ERP software with initial focus on production
  3. Knowledge of bar coding helpful
  4. Experience with perpetual inventory, physical inventory, lot tracking
  5. Knowledge of internal controls and related documentation of processes
  6. ISO experience desirable, understanding of lean manufacturing required
  7. Knowledge of accounting, budgeting, purchasing and cost control procedures
  8. Ability to drive process improvements, lead cross functional teams
  9. Demonstrated proficiency in computer based office software including Excel, Word, Access, and current accounting mainframe office software
  10. Problem analysis and problem resolution skills
  11. Analytical and Decision-making skills
  12. Exceptional communication skills
  13. Demonstrated experience leadership and strategic thinking tendencies

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:  Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.  Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

 

Education/Experience: BS in Accounting with 3 years' experience or Associate's degree with 5 years' experience in cost accounting (CPA Desirable), performing accounting functions, ERP Systems, general ledger, journal postings, closing accounting periods and financial analysis.
