Shift Supervisor

Job Summary:

The Shift Supervisor is responsible for production control in a retail environment.  This individual will receive donated goods, making decisions about pricing and merchandising and delegating specific production tasks to clients and volunteers and those performing community service.  In addition, this individual is responsible for opening and closing the store using the alarm system and placing the money into the safe. In the absence of the Store Manager and Assistant Manager, the Shift Supervisor supervises the work of clients.  As an employee of MRCI, this individual is expected and required to maintain the highest ethical standards.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

1. Greet the people who drop off donations in a courteous manner showing appreciation for donations and developing relationships with the public.  Solve customer disputes when they arise. 
2. Bring donations into store and separate clothing from non-clothing items.  Place clothing and merchandise in the proper and assigned storage areas.  Apply consistent and ethical pricing policies.
3. Sort and hang clothing and restock the store.  Organize the display shelves/racks.
4. Operate the cash register and process credit card transactions.  Ring items under correct department and give the correct change.  Troubleshoot cash register and credit card machine and understand when to call for technical support.
5. Open and close the store, arming/disarming the alarm system, place money in the cash register or safe, lock safe and follow the process checklist.
6. Anticipate trucking and trash needs based on product sorted, work schedules and volunteer schedules.  Assist with the loading and unloading of trucks and taking care of trash.
7. Supervise clients and delegate jobs to clients and volunteers.  This will include being familiar with the abilities and special needs of the clients.
8. Maintain store, both inside and out.  This will include cleaning bathrooms and removing snow, when needed.
9. Other job duties as assigned.

Qualifications: 

• Demonstrated ability to work independently and follow directions
• Ability to operate a cash register and give correct change
• Possess excellent customer service skills and demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with others 
• Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and make decisions about daily duties
• Possess attention to detail
• Knowledge of current fashion trends and "vintage" clothing and antiques
• Experience as garage sale shopper or retail background preferred
• Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle

Education:  High school graduate or equivalence. 

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds on a regular basis.
• Sorting clothing is approximately 90% of the job on a daily basis.
• Must be able to stand and walk for up to four hours at a time.

Working Conditions:

Prefer at least 5 day availability/week

Work schedule is 20-25 hours per week during the hours of:

Sunday – Saturday – 8:30 am – 8:00 pm
