Thrift Shop Assistant Manager - Donations and Online Sales

MRCI is looking for dependable people that enjoy working with others, can problem solve using sound common sense, and have a sense of humor. The Thrift Shop Assistant Manager is a full-time position. Job Summary:

The Assistant Manager is responsible for the efficient flow of the donation process and for creating and maintaining a financially successful online sales program.  This position will create a positive learning environment promoting professional behavior by providing clear and respectful coaching and feedback to clients and volunteers to ensure operational excellence and quality service to our customers. This position is required to work closely with the Store Manager, Assistant Production Manager and other team members to ensure effective communication on daily store operations, customer/client/volunteer concerns and issues and production related performance. The Assistant Manager is expected to recognize and take initiative on day to day activities and work flow needs and be an active team member for sales generation and cost control. In addition, the Assistant Manager actively contributes to our mission by embracing a culture that focuses on MRCI's Team Promises and supports one another, our clients and strengthens our community participation.


Education/Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in a retail setting and/or experience working in a production setting.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities is preferred.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to work independently and follow directions.
  • Knowledge of operating a cash register and giving correct change.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills and have the ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Possess strong attention to detail, prioritize and make decisions about job duties and have knowledge of current fashion trends, vintage clothing and antiques.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and have access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Willingness to obtain licensing necessary to drive the Thrift Shop truck and assist in periodic maintenance.
  • Clear a MN Department of Human Services background check and physical exam to demonstrate the ability to perform the physical demands of the job.

 

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds on a regular basis, sort clothing for approximately 70% of the shift on a daily basis and be able to bend, twist, kneel as well as stand and walk for up to four hours at a time.

 

Environment:

Irregular work hours, which includes weekends and holidays with minor travel involved. Must be willing to do job tasks in a limited amount of space, sort through bags and boxes that are full of donated goods and be able to withstand dust, smells and chemicals. Must also be willing to work in all seasonal weather conditions as a part of this position will involve being outside to help load and unload merchandise.
